Organizational Affiliate’s responsibilities:<br />
• Provide a key contact person authorized to commit organization’s funds<br />
• Provide officers’ contact information<br />
• Not be a labor organization<br />
• Inform MNA Headquarters when new officers are elected along with names and contact<br />
information<br />
• Submit timely reimbursements and payments to MNA for annual fees and for fees for<br />
service<br />
• Adhere to all deadlines (for submissions to newsletter, etc.)<br />
MNA’s responsibilities:<br />
• Follow MNA’s Board approval process<br />
• Be timely and responsive to requests from organizational affiliate’s official contact<br />
• Keep organizational affiliate’s leadership aware of: key contact person(s) at MNA to<br />
request services; invoicing and collection of annual fees and fees for services; and<br />
deadlines for newsletter submission<br />
Contractual Services for Professional Membership Services<br />
Contractual services will be negotiated on an individual basis with each Organizational Affiliate.<br />
Contractual service fees will be based upon a fee structure for each service approved annually<br />
by the MNA Board of Directors. Contractual Services are contingent upon the availability of MNA<br />
staff and other resources to deliver such services:<br />
• Maintenance of membership and or mailing lists<br />
• Mailbox and phone answering services<br />
• Bookkeeping services<br />
• Mailing services<br />
• Teleconference services<br />
• Board room meeting space by reservation and based on availability<br />
Application for Affiliation<br />
Each organization seeking affiliate status with the Maryland <strong>Nurses</strong> <strong>Association</strong> must complete<br />
an application for affiliation and submit the following:<br />
• A copy of the most current bylaws<br />
• A statement of purpose, mission and functions<br />
• A roster of the current officers, including term of office and contact information, the<br />
majority of which must be RNs, and identification of professional credentials<br />
• An approved motion (signed and dated) from the governing body seeking affiliation<br />
• A statement affirming the majority of members to be registered nurses with a breakdown<br />
by number of the total membership. (i.e. RNs 50; LPNs 4; total membership 54)<br />
