HIGHLIGHTS from July 01, 2015 to June 30, 2016:
• Created a document in July 2015 for the two MNA Representatives to the ANA Membership
Assembly (MA) addressing each of the eleven amendments to be considered by the ANA
MA. It included a recommended vote which reflected the MNA BOD’s position on each of the
2015 Proposed Amendments to the 2013 ANA Bylaws submitted to the ANA Committee on
Bylaws (COB) in April 2015. Outcome: Most amendments were postponed for consideration
until the ANA MA in 2017.
• Provided consultation and recommendations to the MNA and DNA leadership on numerous
questions regarding MNA and DNA Bylaws over the past year.
• Conducted face-to-face meeting of MNA COB members and Chief Staff Officer (CSO) after
the September 2015 MNA Leadership Day to develop 2015/2016 committee work plan.
• Attended and participated in the Annual MNA Tellers Committee in September 2015 to
observe the process of establishing the results of the MNA elections and DNA elections
conducted by MNA based on the Standing Rules for the MNA Committee of Tellers (August
2013). Based on the observation of the process, the MNA COB&P will revise the current
Standing Rules for the Teller Committee:
ú Make them more flexible so if there are problems with non-attendance of Committee of
ú
Tellers Members the committee work can still occur.
Require committee members to be full/joint MNA/ANA members to bring MNA policies
into compliance with intent of ANA Bylaws regarding elections of MNA Representatives to
the ANA Membership Assembly.
• Reviewed and revised the current October 2013 MNA Bylaws to bring them into compliance
and harmony with the ANA Bylaws based on the revised July 2015 ANA Bylaws and for the
2016 Triennial review by the ANA Committee on Bylaws (COB).
Standardized language regarding members of both ANA and MNA; they are referred to as
Joint MNA & ANA Members while members who belong only at the state level are referred
to as MNA Only Members throughout the bylaws.
Added a new ARTICLE VI by removing language from ARTICLE IV addressing
Nominations, Elections, and Removal from office to bring the MNA Bylaws into better
compliance with ANA Bylaws since it is the template used in 2013.
