were off, now for those that follow Matcho
know how high he jumps, when he came
to the 5th fence the open ditch he had
a sneaky look in it on the way over and
scared himself a little. We were half way
around the course and he was not taking
me as much as I would have liked so I
decided to pull him up. It is a very big ask,
asking an 8 year old to jump around such
a large track. Sometimes he tries too hard,
as he sees the fences two foot bigger than
we all do. He is a horse for the future that
has lots of scope.
So after a challenging weekend I have
been re-evaluating everything...... the
great saying goes “if you want something
to change, then do something to change
the outcome”. So I am .... I am selling
some of my horses. Some I have hung
onto for too long so it time for a clear
out. The reason why I am being so harsh
is that I need new, young horses coming
through the grades that are potential four
star horses. My manager is making me be
really rational as I am so emotional as the
horses are all my children. An example
of how rational I am being is that I have
ade up y ind to try and find Oie a
new home. He is now 15 years old and is a
super three star horse, can he win with me
no, can he give someone a lot of valuable
experience yes, would he love his new job
yes, will I cry like a baby, YES. This horse
is like a pet to me, he took me around
y first two star, y first advanced and
first three star. have owned hi for nine
years...There is still a voice in my head
that says if I can’t sell him then I will keep
having fun on him but I do have to try.
My rational head is being forced as the
owners of Matcho want to sell their 65%
shares and would love to find a way of
keeping him. So if anyone is interested
please get in touch as you can see what I
a trying to sacrifice here.
With so much going on I am not heading
to Osberton, and we will bring the
winter plans forward, lots of British
Showjumping and British Dressage. I
have just sold a super Advanced dressage
“IF YOU WANT SOMETHING TO CHANGE, THEN
DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THE OUTCOME”
mare to a lovely home, and another pony
into the Quorn pony club. I am currently
interviewing for another working pupil,
and am attracting some very big names
with regards to the sale of Matcho. I was
thinking of having a winter campaign
#comeonletstryandkeepmatcho - any
ideas are welcome. It would just be gutting
to see someone else reep all my hard work,
but that is producing for you. If I do sell
him I will be able to buy a few nice young
horses with my money from my shares.
ets see what happens. y phone nuber
is 07495 094399.
I am also looking for new rides and
owners, I have now produced four horses
to three/four star, I try and upgrade one a
year, The wedding present will make the
step up net year to ake it five. a as
hungry as ever for the success, ust finding
a way to make it happen. All of the horses
I have, have progressed at least one level
each season.
We have started our winter clipping and
this week we should be out cubbing as we
have a few hunters to sell. Douglas knows
that the indoor jumping is about to start
as he has had his mane cut/trimmed to
look like a showjumper!!! He cannot wait
to be back out there. As always lots going
on at EHE, let’s see what the next month
brings. Keep up to date on Facebook and
Instagram.
