“I AM ALWAYS
STRIVING TO DO
MY BEST, WHICH
MEANS PUTTING THE
HOURS IN WITH MY
TRAINERS”
A good morning at the office
posted on the facebook page for the
event updates.
At the moment the sun is shining and
we have just been clipping, believe it
or not…. I do like them clipped in the
summer as this helps them not to sweat
too much and lose condition. I also think
it makes them look smarter. We use the
Masterclip 0.5m blade which is super for
summer clipping.
We then headed to Strafford to take O.B
and Smartie for the 100. O.B jumped
a super double clear to finish 5th in
the 5 year old class. This was her first
5 year old class so we are hopeful that
we can qualify her for the 5 year old
championships at Osberton. Smarties day
was educational, lots of progress in some
areas, but still lots to work on.
As well as traveling the length and
breadth of the country out eventing, I
have been homing my dressage skills a
bit closer to home at Vale View EC. Last
week we took our young dressage horse
Mo, alongside my 4* horse, Doug and 3*
horse Waldo, to compete in some British
Dressage classes.
I entered each of them into two classes
each and all three came first in both of
their classes! It was a great second outing
for Mo who managed to build on his
successes in his first outing, and giving
him more confidence and experience
out in the competition environment.
For Doug and Wally the aim was to keep
them occupied during the middle of the
season and to make sure that they are
keeping on top of their game.
I am always striving to do my best, which
means putting the hours in with my
trainers. Andrew Hoy has been to visit
and he is helping me to keep a good
canter rhythm between fences, making
sure that we are consistent in the rhythm
and that this does not vary. I have also
been working with Caroline Moore who
is great at helping me with the lines
that I need to take in the more technical
elements, to ensure that I can get the
best ride through combination efforts.
As well as being very busy competing, we
have also been very busy selling horses
and ponies! Last month we have found
wonderful new homes for three of our
horses, including a new horse for a Para
rider! I am going horse shopping in the
next couple of weeks, back to where I
bought Matcho, Oz and Wally, to make
sure that we have a good selection of
horses available.
As well as horses in to sell, we have also
had a number of schooling liveries in for
fine tuning. All of their owners have been
delighted of the work we have put into
their horses and we are always looking
for new schooling liveries to join us.
Last month I mentioned that I had been
doing some corporate networking, and
all the hard work has paid off! I am very
excited to announce that Lanes Fine
Jewellers, the official jewellers of football
Premiership champions Leicester FC, are
now supporting me and have asked me to
be one of their Brand Ambassadors. I will
be able to reveal more next month.
With the Olympics just around the
corner, the teams have been announced
and my predictions were half correct!
Congratulations to William Fox-Pitt,
Pippa Funnell, Kitty King, Gemma
Tattersall and travelling reserve Tina
Cook who I am sure will do a fantastic job
in Brazil and hopefully bring home some
medals.
I look forward to updating you next
month on our travels and news.
