Springwater Acosta - Mr
& Mrs P D Tyler
The Northern Dartmoor Pony
Society held their 40th
Annual Show at Osbaldeston
Riding Centre in Blackburn on the
last Saturday in June. Breed Shows,
Equestrian or other animals have
a totally different atmosphere and
of course the very name suggests
they are ‘Family Get Togethers’ the
family of the breed or animal, their
extended family, and the of course
the human part of the family. The
Breeders themselves, the owners, the
prospective owners and the breed
enthusiasts who come along to these
shows and soak up the enjoyment on
offer from the start of the event to the
end and all in between.
Colt Champion - Springwater Beaufort - K Duxbury & C Vernon
If you arrive as a stranger you are very
soon scooped up into the friendly
groups chatting about their ponies or
horses (dogs or other things etc etc.).
As the actual show gets under way you
soon find the similarities in the linebreeding
and very much the same as
their human counterparts as families.
Whilst competition is keen, there’s a
lot of encouragement especially for
new owners and young people who
are either showing In-Hand or in the
Ridden Classes. The schedule included
classes and a lovely Championship
for New Exhibitors dedicated to the
Memory of Joan Petherbridge.
We have taken a few pictures at the
show which we hope you enjoy.
