Christmas at Hope Shelter<br />

Once again this year, the Maverick Region was able to help<br />
out at the Hope Shelter during the 2002 Christmas season.<br />
Many members contributed gifts, stuffed animals, stockings,<br />
and stocking stuffers. Several deliveries were made during the<br />
month of December, all gifts were well received and enjoyed by<br />
everyone at the shelter.<br />
Dorothee Thielisch’s hand-made stockings were great, they<br />
were so big that some of the children could almost fit inside<br />
them! If you attended the holiday party at the Leibel’s house, you<br />
probably helped to contribute to the the huge pile of stuffed<br />
animals and toys under (and around) the Christmas tree. Can<br />
you believe that all of that plush was squeezed into Lanean’s 944<br />
Turbo for the trip out to the shelter? We joked that if Lanean got<br />
pulled over while driving home that night, that she would surely<br />
be able to talk herself out of that situation. What police officer<br />
could resist all those cute bears staring out of the back window?<br />
Here are some photographs to help us remember the season<br />
and maybe even start thinking about what we will be doing to<br />
help this worthy cause throughout <strong>2003</strong>.<br />
