Happy Hour at Saltgrass

The Saltgrass has been one of our annual traditions for
Maverick Happy Hours since 2001, and it turned out to be
excellent again this year in terms of food and service.
One of the highlights of the evening had to be Clint
Blackman who appeared with, of all things, an HO gauge Porsche
locomotive made by
Marklin trains (made, of
course, in Germany).

It’s a replica of the
Deutsche Bahn electric
engine that transports
our completed cars
from Stuttgart to the
North Sea for overseas
transport. Clint knew all
the statistics for it,
including the fact that it
had 8,200 horsepower
and can do zero to 200
kmh in 20 seconds! The
statement on the side of the locomotive says “We sit here on the
rails, but our heart is on the road.”

Lincoln, Gene Harkey, Brian
Bolton and Guhan Raghu attended,
along with Vintage Porsche
icon Jack Griffin, who gave me an
update on the progress of the
Dream Garage.
For dinner Tinker Edwards
and I shared a ribeye, and you
would have thought we were at Del
Frisco’s (well, almost), while at the
same time debating with Karen
Lincoln the benefits of eating raw
oatmeal (you sort of had to be
there).

Speaking of Germany and traditions, for our happy hour
on May 17th we return to the Bavarian Grill in Plano. Come
ready to enjoy the German food and wine, and remember that
the portions are huge, so you might want to share. Hope to see
you there!
