Maverick Minutes
by Lisa Steele
WARNING: You may be
shocked at how quickly you
read these minutes! The reason
for this warning is that our wonderful Vice
President, Bryan Bell, ran the meeting
for this month. You see, people are really
scared of him and they get right to the
point with what needs to be said.
The meeting began promptly at 7:00 with Mr. Bell’s
leadership. Bryan assured the group that all upcoming
events are covered with insurance.
We quickly moved on to the next person in our round table
discussion…Wendy Shoffit. Wendy asked if we were still
good on brochures and John Hamilton said there was still
plenty. Wendy will not have any reprinted for now.
James Shoffit announced that the Nominating Committee
is doing their job. They have one person interested in taking
over the President position. Three people would like to be
Vice President. There is “maybe” one person interested
in being Secretary and definitely one person interested in
staying on as Treasurer.
Richard Bradley brought with him the September issue
of Slipstream with a great picture of our President, Mike
Brodigan, standing outside of the Silver Fox. Richard said
that he would be dropping off some of these issues to the
Silver Fox. Richard also reported that he and Ed Mullenix
are working on some good Tech articles. Richard was also
happy to report that he had one person answer his Help
Wanted Ad. Hiram Saunders stepped up and said he would
help. Any additional help from anyone would be GREAT!
Tom and Barbara Minnella and Linda Bambina spoke to
the group about next year’s Round Up. They are planning
a wonderful event at Possum Kingdom Lake. They have
all kinds of wonderful ideas and they are thinking about
possibly combining their event with another driving event
like an Autocross or Time Trial at Mineral Wells. Sounds
fun!!!
Clint Blackman reports that we have Sunday Drives! The
next drive will be a great route from Duncanville to Cresson
where the group will enjoy some time at MSR and get to
take their cars on the track for charity laps.
John Hamilton announced that the dates for DE’s have
been set for next year. The schedule remains the same
with the exception of a few fall dates. There was a corner
worker conflict, but by changing the dates we should have
our superior crew of corner workers with us. John also
announced that we have a new Equipment Manager. Luke
Edson will be handling this job. Our new Grid “Queen”
is Travis Howard and Cathy Howard will be our new Gate
Control person. John also asked Wendy if it is too much
trouble to continue making name tags for the drivers. Of
course, Wendy said it is no problem at all and she will have
them ready for the September DE.
Jim Falgout reported, “We Have Money!” He also
announced that he has taken over the billing for Slipstream
Ads. Payments were due in September and many advertisers
have paid…woohoo!!
Carey Spreen reported that he has been to a couple more
SCCA Rallies to get some good ideas for next year.
Travis Howard reported that there is an upcoming AX/TT
in Mineral Wells.
Robyn Howard reported that she will be working out on
a corner at the September DE…hope you hear my honk,
Robyn!
We concluded our round table discussion with Bryan’s
last statement: The Colorado Club Race was Awesome!!
Meeting adjourned at 7:30PM.
Was I right??? Shortest Minutes Ever!!
