High Plains Raceway Club Race<br />

For me, one of the best feelings in<br />

racing is the moment you climb<br />

into your SUV and head to the<br />

track. The trailer is loaded down with<br />

your completely prepared car and<br />

you click your seatbelt knowing you<br />

are headed out on a racing trip! You<br />

have all these minutes ahead of you<br />

to enjoy: the trip itself to the track, unpacking all of<br />

the track stuff, seeing and talking with friends, learning<br />

a new track, feeling the rush of the race start and the<br />

joy on your face when you crawl out of your car at the<br />

end of a hard day. Man, if the pros that get paid to do<br />

this still have this feeling - that sure must be close to<br />

nirvana!<br />

My family and I headed out on my quest for nirvana on<br />

Wednesday afternoon. We met up with David Hodges<br />

(fellow new Club Racer in my GTB1 class) in Denton.<br />

We hoped that traveling together would ease each<br />

other’s pain if traveling trouble came up for either of<br />

us. We made it to Wichita, KS, and stayed the night. On<br />

Thursday we finished the boring and uneventful drive<br />

across the plains and pulled into High Plains Raceway<br />

just as a 50+ mph storm rolled in! As I rushed to unload<br />
