Objectives of Crime Scene Examination
► To find the cause of the incident and to ascertain if a crime
has been committed
► To collect and preserve evidence of the crime
► To identify the possible suspect and to provide evidence of
his guilt
Possible Investigative Measures during the
Investigation
► Check with the Regulatory Authorities concerning what
kind of permits have been issued to the company and what
requirements have to be met
► Interviewing witnesses, victims, complainants
► Search of company premises (e.g. company records) to
find things that could serve as evidence of the crime
committed (e.g. contracts, accounts, documents) and
search of other places where evidence may be collected
(e.g. vehicles, private residences)
► Seizure of evidence according to national legislation
► Interrogation of suspects
Possible Investigative Measures during the
Investigation
► Undercover surveillance of suspects
► Undercover operations
► Arrest of suspects depending of the seriousness of the case
and according to the procedures in each country
► Analysis of any samples taken
► Tracing of assets obtained by illegal activity for possible
confiscation according to national legislation
► International Rogatory Commission/Letter of Request in
international criminal cases
