�Enhance knowledge of Environmental Protection Inspector
about legal disciplines
�Clarify the importance of environmental protection to
representatives of cooperating institutions and enhance their
technical knowledge about possible harmful impact on
environment and its long-term effects

What will be different at the end of the project?
�Training materials including a Toolkit for Judges will be available to ensure
continued training of inspectors and stakeholders, which is crucial to curb
illegal activities and to allow a concerted effort to fight and prosecute
environmental crime
�At the end of this project, we will have better tools (e.g. SOPs and Manual for
coordinated enforcement) and increased administrative and inter-institutional
capacity to deal with potentially upcoming international environmental crime

What after completion of the project?
� Finally – more successful processing of misdemeanour and criminal
offences against environment
� Article 149. of EPA (OG 110/07) already prescribes that Court proceeding
according all suits in field of environmental protection are urgent – it is
expected this will be enforced in practice
� More successful recognition of liability for environmental damage and
determination of responsible person for remediation of environment
� Obligation to compensate damage and expenses
� Reduction in number of misdemeanour and criminal offences against
environment as a result of enhanced system
