6. The taking of Kiev<br />

16 September<br />

The capital of the Ukrainian<br />

Socialist Soviet Republic is the<br />

next settlement to fall as Soviet<br />

troops are trapped in a pocket<br />

east of the city. A month later, the<br />

Wehrmacht have advanced even<br />

further to Bryansk and Belgorod.<br />
