Even though it is February,
I feel like we have
been quite lucky that we
haven’t had that much
snow and many days have
been warmer than you
would think they should
be. I’ve always felt that it
was strange that if it is 32
degrees for a while, if it
gets to be 50 degrees, it
feels like a warm spell. If it
is 70 degrees for a while
and drops to 50 degrees,
it feels like a cold snap.
I’ve always been a fan of
warmer weather and would
prefer 80 degrees for most
of the year, than to have
temperatures near freezing
or near zero.
I usually sleep with a comforter
even in the summer
as my wife likes to keep it
cool in the bedroom.
I think back of going to my
grandparents on Sundays
and if it was cooler outside
it was always hot in the living
room. It was a great
excuse to have a nap.
Who ever “they” are,
“they” say that if you stay
cold it is due to poor circulation.
I guess I was
born with it.
But in some cases, it may
just be what I have gotten
used to. When I was
younger, I worked on a
night shift and could sleep
during the day if it was
sweaty hot, and with the
t.v. on and the lights on
and company in the house
talking.
Now I have gotten used to
getting up early and even
if it is a day off I still don’t
spend half a day in bed.
I have even gone to the
beach and slept, something
that I don’t recommend.
If you don’t have
someone to keep an eye
on you and you don’t wake
up, you can get a nasty
burn.
I have had jobs that I’ve
had to spend time outside
even in the cold. A
few years ago it seemed
that it stayed around
zero for about a month
solid and I would be
careful to bundle up in
layers, but I didn’t
seemed to get sick as
much as when it was
cold but when it started
warming up outside is
when I would catch a
nasty cold. It could have
been allergies, but I
can’t remember that everything
had started getting
green again.
That’s something else
that I miss in the cold is
the color and the brightness
of the sun instead
of the gloominess.
