least one of your 2017 New Year resolutions!
The one I’m most interested in is driving
your Porsche as often as possible and participating in
at least one new Maverick Region driving event this
year to meet your fellow club members.
The club’s tagline, “Driving Friendships”, is a
mindset that I hope all Maverick
members can embrace in
becoming an active club
participant of the Maverick
Region. You’ve got a sports car
for all seasons at your disposal
and lots of potential new
friendships with members of
our club, so putting that tagline
into action should be of high
interest to each of you.
Going a bit further with my ongoing reminders for
our members to drive our German engineering marvels
as frequently as possible, perhaps author Dwight
Knowlton and his mantra of “Carpe Viam” is one you
should adopt for 2017. The literal translation of that is
“Seize the Road”. Now that is a proper call to action
for all of our Maverick Region Porsche owners!
For all of our members who may need some help in
determining how best to “seize the road”, look no further
than the contents of this issue. In fact, the cover
photo this month highlights how many of our driving
events have a very visible starting point. Begin with the
club calendar on page 1. You’ll find a complete
listing of all club events for the next four
months here. Of course, also check the online
calendar on our web site at mav.pca.org for
any last minute schedule changes.
Next, check page 10. You’ll find information on
the PCA Spring Treffen held in our own Hill Country,
Fiesta New Mexico held in our neighboring Roadrunner
Region, and the schedule of our monthly Maverick
lunches. These are great driving opportunities to meet
many like-minded Porsche owners.
On page 14, our first Drivers’ Education event at
MSR is highlighted. Participate on the track or come
out and spectate - all members are welcome! Page 17
provides our season Autocross overview and schedule -
the most fun you can have in 60 seconds!
Information on our PCA Tour events, which feature
tremendous roads and great destinations, is found on
page 19. The upcoming Club Race/Solo DE at COTA
is highlighted on page 28. You can even find info on
PCA license plates for your Porsche on page 14.
Finally, our club event chairs are member volunteers
devoted to ensuring that you enjoy your Porsche to the
ultimate degree possible. Please review page 4 to get to
know these important volunteers and say “thank you”
the next time you see them in appreciation for their
efforts on all of our behalf. In particular, Bob Kramer
is one of our two new Safety Co-Chairs and has already
begun helping new DE participants get tech inspections
completed.
Bob shared that Doghouse Performance is a new
vendor located on site at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson.
They have let Bob know that they will provide tech
inspections free of charge to Maverick DE participants.
You can contact them at 817-396-4211. Of course, your
local Porsche dealers and independent Porsche repair
shops also offer this service for you.
