Cooktown Long Weekend - Saturday 30 Sept –<br />
Monday 2 Oct <strong>2016</strong><br />
Long weekends are always a great time to fit in a<br />
lengthy run with overnight stop, and the Queen’s<br />
Birthday long weekend was no exception.<br />
A combination of members from both the FNQ MG<br />
club and also Cairns Restorers organised a fun<br />
itinerary to visit the township of Cooktown.<br />
Smithfield on the north side of Cairns was the<br />
departure point at a nice leisurely 9am, then<br />
heading west to Mareeba for morning tea.<br />
Palmer River Roadhouse was a good stop for<br />
lunch, then the long haul to Cooktown, once<br />
everyone was refreshed from the long drive,<br />
Saturday night dinner was at the RSL.<br />
The iconic Lions Den Hotel, is always a favourite<br />
and the group stopped here on the return trip.<br />
All in all a fun weekend, spent with a terrific group.<br />
