The CANAL+ Group was the main co-producer of Roman<br />
Polański’s The Pianist.<br />
The company’s portfolio included projects undertaken<br />
individually and in co-operation with other partners, such as<br />
TVP. Since 2005, Canal+ has produced 22 feature films,<br />
including Persona Non Grata, Ode To Joy, Saviour’s Square,<br />
Extras, Retrieval, Hope, Tricks, Strawberry Wine, Drzazgi,<br />
and To nie tak jak myślisz, kotku. In recent years Canal+ has<br />
also produced more than 20 documentaries and short films.<br />
Every year CANAL+ supports national film festivals, such as<br />
the Era New Horizons Festival and the Polish Film Festival in<br />

Home Box Office, America’s leading premium television<br />
network, established in 1972, opened its first field office in<br />
Central Europe in 1991 and in <strong>Poland</strong> in 1996. HBO Central<br />
Europe is owned by Home Box Office Inc., Disney’s Buena<br />
Vista International Television and Sony Pictures Television<br />
International / Columbia Tri-Star. HBO is now available in<br />
most cable TV networks and on all digital platforms in<br />
<strong>Poland</strong>. HBO brings the biggest blockbusters, award-winning<br />
original series, cutting edge documentaries, exclusive<br />
events and the biggest stars directly to viewers’ homes.<br />
In 2006, HBO began to produce documentaries in <strong>Poland</strong>,<br />
some of which, like Marcin Koszałka and Jacek Bławut, have<br />
gained recognition at various film festivals. Encouraged by<br />
this success, the station has already announced a number of<br />
promising documentary projects. HBO also supports the<br />

Television Kino Polska is the only TV channel focusing on<br />
Polish films and the first private TV broadcaster financed<br />
entirely by Polish capital. The station broadcasts Polish<br />
feature films, documentaries and animated films,<br />
newsreels, independent productions, as well as<br />

Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) is a state-owned company and by<br />
law the only public TV broadcaster in <strong>Poland</strong>. It consists of<br />
the following channels: TVP1 (Jedynka) – addressed to the<br />
general public; TVP2 (Dwójka) – culture and entertainment;<br />
and TVP Info, with programmes prepared locally; TV Polonia<br />
– a satellite channel broadcasting programmes for Poles<br />
living abroad; TVP Kultura – a channel on general cultural<br />
issues; and finally TVP Historia and TVP Sport. In September<br />
2008, TVP HD was launched, broadcasting feature films,<br />
documentaries, series, children’s shows and sports.<br />
Telewizja Polska SA is the largest film producer in <strong>Poland</strong>;<br />
the agency responsible for film production in TVP is the TVP<br />
SA Film Agency; the Office for International Co-operation is<br />
responsible for co-production projects. However, some<br />
productions are undertaken directly by particular channels,<br />
