The Centre for Film Arts in Katowice was established in 2006<br />
to promote film culture and art. It gathers numerous<br />
cinema organizations active in Silesia, including debating<br />
clubs, film directors, students and lecturers of the film<br />
department at the Silesian University. The organization<br />
houses two modern screening rooms and the Silesian Film<br />
Archive, constantly digitalizing and maintaining its<br />
collections. The Centre is also involved in organizing film<br />
reviews and screenings.<br />

The Centre is one of the most important organizations<br />
promoting various trends in contemporary arts. One of the<br />
initiatives run by the Centre is KINO.LAB, which presents<br />
film and animation productions of the 20 th century, focusing<br />
mainly on independent and niche contemporary art and on<br />
the promotion of new forms of audiovisual expression. The<br />
Centre organizes unique reviews, screenings and seminars<br />
on art forms from around the world.<br />
