debate between filmmakers and young audiences. For many
debuting filmmakers, this is the first occasion to confront
their artistic vision of the world with the public. A number
of side events take place during the festival, including Q&A
sessions, seminars, workshops, special presentations, music
concerts and theatrical performances.
The Koszalin Debut Films Festival “The Young and Cinema”
has an international and Polish competition section. The
former is a competition of feature films, whereas the latter
focuses on student films from Polish film schools.
Łagów
Organized annually for over 30 years in a picturesque
lakeside resort, this event focuses primarily on the cinema
of Central and Eastern Europe. Main sections include feature
and documentary competitions, as well as retrospectives of
acclaimed filmmakers. Interesting Q&A sessions and debates
on the condition of Polish and European cinema are possible
due to the intentionally small scale of the event. Daily
music concerts and theatre performances help maintain the
special ambiance of the festival.
