Exceptional Wines from<br />

the Isle of Beauty<br />

Corsica’s wine union, the UVIB, is<br />

present at <strong>Vinexpo</strong> Hong Kong with<br />

exceptional products, highly noted by<br />

Robert Parker, including the Prestige du<br />

Président range (white, rosé and red),<br />

and the XX270 Aléria – 100% Syrah<br />

red.<br />

Prestige du Président is a product of the<br />

earth and the sun, of sea and mountain,<br />

demonstrating all the originality of<br />

a truly exceptional wine. The wines<br />

are developed using an innovative<br />

process wherein maturity of the grapes<br />

is measured regularly and precisely<br />

with regard to sugar concentration,<br />

volume and colour. The optimum date<br />

for harvest is thus fixed, with nighttime<br />

vendanges.<br />

The red wine is a marriage of<br />

Niellucciu, Grenache and Syrah<br />

marrying beautifully with wild boar stew<br />

or a côte de boeuf on the grill. The<br />

white is 100% Vermentinu (Malvoisie)<br />

- an excellent accompaniment for a<br />

salad, seafood or grilled fish. And the<br />

rosé is a Sciaccarellu/Syrah marrying<br />

perfectly with white meats, grilled fish<br />

or Mediterranean dishes.<br />

ALÉRIA – AN AGE-OLD<br />

WINEGROWING REGION<br />

Implanted by the ancient Greeks,<br />

developed by the Etruscans and<br />

cultivated by the Romans, vines have<br />

been present in the region of Aléria in<br />

Corsica for over 2500 years.<br />

XX 270 Aléria is a 100% Syrah wine,<br />

from 30-year-old vines planted on hills<br />

between the Mediterranean Sea and<br />

Lake Diana on the western side of the<br />

“Isle of Beauty”. Lower soil levels are<br />

of clay and pebbles, ensuring an ideal<br />

maturity for the grapes.<br />

Fermentation is set between 25°C and<br />

30°C, with regular stirring in order to<br />

extract the optimum from the grapes.<br />

Total fermentation is for three weeks,<br />

allowing for the elaboration of a wine<br />

perfect for ageing. Light filtration and<br />

maturing in vats for 8 months ensures<br />

the preservation of natural aromas and<br />

a softening of the tanins.<br />

This red wine is characterised by an<br />

intense ruby robe. It is fine and rich on<br />

the nose, with a peppery character and<br />

notes of violet. In the mouth, the wine<br />

is ample and round, with final notes of<br />

silky tanins. It marries beautifully with<br />

traditional Corsican dishes such as<br />

grilled lamb, sautéed veal, cold cuts or<br />

cheeses •<br />
