Molex SL TPA What is a TPA? IT aslo reinforces the locking tang (the primary locking mechanism) that retains the terminal in the housing . Why choose TPA? Housings require terminals . The standard female terminal (70058) can be used; however, the customer should also consider the high-force terminal (71851) . It is important to protect high vibration application-oriented parts from fretting corrosion . Fretting occurs when the terminal moves back and forth on the mating pin during vibration . Over time, tin oxidation builds up at the mating interface and creates an intermittent circuit . The high-force terminal grabs hold of the mating pin and is less likely to create tin oxidation . To further protect against fretting, high-force terminals should be considered . Furthermore, the implementation of gold contacts is essential to prevent oxidation, as gold does not oxidize . Molex offers male terminals and housings or PCB headers to mate with the TPA connector (wire-to-wire and wire-to-board) .
