Parents-to-be George and Amal 

Clooney are two of the coolest cats in 

Hollywood — but not when they’re 

harriedly preparing for twins! 

George, 56, and Amal, 39, have been 

nesting in the massive estate they bought 

in Berkshire, an hour’s drive west of 

London, and renovated to the tune of 

$16 million. But with Amal’s delivery date 

only weeks away, a source close to the 

pair says they’re “suddenly getting 

nervous about whether everything is in 

order.” George in particular is “popping 

his head into the nursery at some point 

each day,” the source says, “clutching a 

checklist his mom gave him and making 

sure all the drawers are fully stocked. He’s 

actually confessed he’s feeling a little 

panicked, but he tries to hide it in front of 

Amal. It’s very sweet.” 

Both of the A-listers’ families have 

descended on the home to help out with 

any last-minute prep and postbirth needs, 

the source says, while Amal “is mostly 

focused on reviewing her birth plan.” 

With her pregnancy relatively troublefree 

and doctors’ assurance the babies are 

healthy, the source says, the overall vibe in 

the house is eager anticipation: “They 

can’t wait for the twins to get here!” OK!

did only a bare minimum of 

publicity for his film 

projects — but over the past 

few months, the divorcing 

dad has been engaged in a 

media blitz. Ostensibly, the 

PR offensive is to promote 

his Netflix satire, War 

Machine, but in reality, a 

source says, Brad is 

panicked that his reputation 

as a Tinseltown good guy 

suffered severely in the 

wake of his split from 

Angelina Jolie — in which 

he was accused of child 

abuse and having a drinking 

problem. “Brad is afraid that 

people see him as some kind 

of monster now, so he’s 

eager to remind fans that 

he’s still that sensitive, 

affable, goofy dude they 

used to know,” says a source 

close to the star. 

Hence, his extremely 

intimate and wide-ranging 

interview with GQ Style, in 

which he confessed to 

“boozing too much,” named 

“hubris” as the source of his 

troubles and said he’s 

“trying to get better.” In an 

AP interview weeks later, he 

said he had “no secrets” and 

“nothing to hide” as he dove 

into “the human condition.” 

Lest anyone be put off by 

all the introspection, phase 

two of the charm attack was 

a lighthearted appearance 

on The Late Show With 

Stephen Colbert, where Brad 

traded self-deprecating 

quips with the host during a 

“big questions” skit. “Is it 

possible to describe 

infinity?” Stephen asked. 

“Yes, it is,” Brad responded. 

“It’s one less than the 

number of Ocean’s sequels 

we’ll be making.” Ha! 

“Brad wants people to 

know that he’s been 

humbled by the past few 

months,” says the source. 

“He’s dead set on making a 

sort of public mea culpa.”

in therapy to work out issues

she’s finally confronting her 

demons. “When Katy broke 

from her roots to be in pop 

music, she became a big 

partier,” an insider says. “She 

didn’t think she had a 

problem, but after a breakup 

she would get depressed 

and anesthetize herself.” 

Her February split from 

Orlando Bloom was the final 

wake-up call. “She realized 

how much baggage she’s 

been carrying,” says the 

source, “and that she 

had to get sober to 

unload it for

It was a very full Mother’s Day for Drew Barrymore, 

who celebrated with her two daughters and her longestranged 

mom, Jaid. The two have had a complicated 

relationship dating back to when Jaid, who split from 

hubby John before Drew was born, would take the young 

E.T. star with her to Hollywood parties. “Sometimes she’d 

blow pot smoke in Drew’s face to calm her,” says a source. 

By the time she was a teen, Drew had been in rehab twice, 

and she was granted emancipation from her parents at 

15. But since her divorce last year from Will Kopelman, 

“Drew has come to understand how hard it is being a 

single mom,” the source says, “and she reconnected with 

Jaid. She wants her girls to know their grandmother. Now 

they’re both bending over backward to make it work.”

Shockingly Evil and Vile. “Zac is desperate to be taken 

seriously,” a source says. “He doesn’t want to be in 

frat-guy comedies and cheesy rom-coms forever. He 

knows this is a make-or-break opportunity, and he’s 

ready to work his butt off to prove himself.”

Amanda Seyfried has 

dropped more than 20 

pounds since giving birth two 

months ago to her daughter with 

husband Thomas Sadoski, with

the whole process has been 

easier than she dared imagine. 

“Amanda’s always had to work 

pretty hard to stay skinny,” says 

the insider of the petite star, 

who’s spoken in the past of being 

on a raw-food diet of “spinach 

and seeds.” So during her 

pregnancy she stayed vigilant, 

“focusing on lean protein, 

vegetables and healthy grains. 

She also kept up her workouts, 

which made it easier to lose 

after.” Another blessing? “She 

gained mostly in her belly and 

her boobs,” the source says. 

“And breastfeeding is now 

burning so many calories, she 

says it’s the best diet ever!”

REVENGE MEMOIR 

The gloves are off, and this time it’s 

personal. Outraged by what she 

considers backstabbing lies in Caitlyn 

Jenner’s tell-all, The Secrets of My Life, 

Kris Jenner is writing her own memoir, 

says a source, with an eye toward taking 

her ex down. “She’s going to blow the lid 

off her marriage to pretransition Bruce,” 

says the insider. “She’ll paint him as an 

absentee dad and a cold and distant 

husband. And she’ll refute Cait’s claims 

that Kris knew early on about her gender 

issues.” Kris, who recently blasted Cait 

on Keeping Up With the Kardashians — 

“Everything she says is all made up. Why 

does everything have to be that Kris 

is such a b***h and an a**hole?” — was 

approached to write a book two years 

ago, when Caitlyn announced she was 

transitioning, but “she wanted to keep 

things cool within the family,” says the 

source. “Now she feels she has no choice 

but to tell her side of the story. She’s 

deep into writing and she’s already got 

seven-figure offers on the table. Kris sees 

this as a win-win: She’ll turn the tide of 

public opinion back to her, and she’ll get 

revenge on Cait.” Stay tuned!

ABOUT AGING 

Sarah Jessica Parker has long been a vocal 

proponent of aging gracefully, but lately cracks in her 

composure are showing. Sources say the 52-year-old 

actress, who once scoffed at the notion of having 

“big fake boobs, Botox, collagen and big lips,” is 

obsessing about how old she looks on the set of 

her HBO dramedy Divorce. (It likely doesn’t help 

that her character is the anti-Carrie Bradshaw: 

a harried, unglamorous, middle-aged woman 

whose marriage unravels.) “She’s always staring 

at her wrinkles and talking about how awful she 

looks in certain lighting,” says an insider. “She’s 

stopped a number of scenes to check out how 

old she looks in the footage. And it’s taking longer 

and longer in the makeup chair to make her happy.” 

Some have suggested that SJP try changing up her 

look, perhaps do something new with her hair, “but 

she’s afraid that whatever she does will make her 

look even older,” says the source. “She jokes about 

her age, but you can tell she has a complex about 

it. No one would be surprised if she opts for a 

little Botox finally.”

Ingredients 

• 4 center-cut, bone-in pork chops, 

1 ½ to 2 inches thick 

• Salt and freshly ground black 

pepper 

• ¼ cup hoisin sauce 

• 2 tbsp. soy sauce 

• 2 tbsp. grated peeled ginger 

• 2 cloves garlic, grated 

• 2 tsp. toasted sesame oil

Directions 

1. Preheat an outdoor grill to 

medium. 

2. Generously season each side of 

the pork chops with salt and pepper. 

In a bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, 

soy sauce, ginger, garlic and 

sesame oil. 

3. Place the pork chops on the 

grill and cover the grill. Cook for 

4 minutes. Flip the chops, brush with 

the hoisin sauce mixture, then cover 

the grill and cook for 4 minutes. Flip 

and brush again, then cover and cook 

for 2 minutes. Flip and baste, then 

cover and cook for 2 minutes longer. 

4. Remove the chops from the grill, 

tent with foil and let stand for 

5 minutes. Serve hot.

Before winning fans on two 

seasons of Top Chef and as a 

cohost of The Chew, the 

outgoing Nashville native 

was an accountant, a model and a caterer. 

Now she’s bringing the “food memories” of 

her youth to a down-home restaurant in 

Brooklyn: Carla Hall’s Southern Kitchen, 

which specializes in Nashville-style “hot 

chicken,” available in six levels of heat. Chef 

Judy Joo spoke to Carla about her latest 

venture and how she finds the spice in life. 


What was the inspiration behind Carla Hall’s 

Southern Kitchen? 

I have to say, first of all, I never wanted a 

restaurant. [But] my business partner found 

this space, and it reminded me of a “meat and 

three” that I grew up going to in Nashville, a 

kind of diner where you choose a meat and 

three sides. And I realized I didn’t want fine 

dining — I wanted to share the Sunday 

suppers I had at my grandmother’s house 

with people. I went to Mario Batali for advice, 

and he said, “I suggest you keep it small and 

think of one thing you want to do.” And I said, 

“I would do Nashville-style hot chicken.”

restaurant to be 

a joint, to feel as 

comfortable as an 

old glove,” Carla 

tells Judy Joo.

CARLA HALL’S Pimento Cheese 

INGREDIENTS 

• 8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese 

• 8 oz. shredded Monterey Jack cheese 

• 2/3 cup mayonnaise 

• 1/2 cup finely chopped pimentos 

• 1/4 cup peeled, finely chopped shallots 

• 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced 

• 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper 

• 2 tsp. hot sauce 

• Crackers (to serve) 

• Salt and pepper, to taste 

DIRECTIONS 

In a large bowl add the cheddar cheese, 

Monterey Jack cheese, mayonnaise, 

pimentos, shallots, garlic, cayenne and 

hot sauce, and mix to combine. Smash 

with fork until the mixture comes 

together. Season to taste with salt and 

pepper. Serve with crackers. 

What makes the chicken hot? 

You fry it like you would any Southern 

fried chicken, then dip it in an oil 

that’s going to be mild to really spicy. 

We have one with cayenne, one with 

habanero, one with Scotch bonnets. I 

really try to honor the peppers! 

You’ve succeeded in a very maledominated 

field. What advice do you 

give young women? 

I tell them it’s all about the work ethic. 

From the food 

to the music playing, 

“people feel like 

they’re in a Southern 

town,” says Carla of 

her Brooklyn eatery. 

My six words of advice are: Say yes — 

adventure follows, then growth. You 

find what you want to do and what 

your strengths are. 

What do you like to cook at home? 

I make a lot of omelets: soft and runny, 

no color. I do mixed herbs and goat 

cheese, and I always have a salad with 

it. I love that acid with the fat. 

Have you been able to step back since 

opening your restaurant and say, Wow, 

look at what I created, look at the 

people who are eating here? 

I just had a woman here from North 

Carolina, and she was tearing up eating 

the biscuits, telling me that it was her 

grandmother’s birthday and they 

reminded her of her grandmother. I 

get goose bumps even thinking about 

it! If I’m asked what I specialize in, I 

always say food memories. When 

people come here, I’m giving them 

mine, and hopefully they’re jumping 

on the track to get their own. OK!
