Some new members really got into the
spirit of things and had had t-shirts
printed to commemorate their trip out in
their Conway Tardis.
Members only Facebook page, if you’re
not already in the group search for
Members of the Conway Owners Club
and ask to join.
On Saturday we were joined by our Son
and his girlfriend and as it was such a nice
day we went back to the Country Park
and walked around the lake, however the
typical British weather managed to catch
us in a short downpour just yards from
our car…marvellous. During the course
of Saturday I was asked to give some
snails a makeover by Chris in readiness
for their appearance on Sunday at the
Race night.
That night we had a quiz with a
difference….well, it certainly was different.
Much hilarity and confusion ensued,
much to our delight, as things didn’t go
quite according to plan. Some of the
newer members seemed very confused,
but I’m sure they enjoyed the evening all
the same, we certainly did.
On Sunday morning the Club held an
Easter Egg Hunt for the Children, and
afterwards we all headed to the Sysonby
Knoll Hotel and Restaurant, just a short
walk from the campsite, where we all
enjoyed a lovely three course meal
together. Of course when you reach
a certain age and suffer from full belly
syndrome this means that an afternoon
nap is inevitable…and very welcome it
was too.
That night Chris and Paul, with the help
of others, ran a race night. There was
the Children’s steeplechase, followed
by the Filly handicap and finally the
Stallion Steeplechase. The fence was
then dismantled and the children were
asked to find five snails…some were
slightly concerned that they may have
to handle live snails until our Race Snails
were found lurking in a store cupboard.
Once set up several snail races were held
with a great deal of noise and laughter.

Prizes for the Children’s and adults
colouring in competitions were awarded
as well as the Treasure hunt and winners
of the Big Easter quiz were announced.
Dave and Val Woodcock organised a
tombola stall and asked everyone to
supply an item to be included; we are
clearly a very generous bunch as the
table was heaving. The tombola raised
just shy of £70 which was split 50/50
between the Club and as a donation in
Memory of Matthew Kitching. Some of
you may know that Matthew had passed
away after a very brief fight with liver
cancer on the 6th April. His wife Alison
and I sing together as the Conway sisters
along with Mitch and others in a little
group we affectionally call The Con-
Artists. This year we will be joined by
our good friends Rhys and Amy for the
Disco night at the AGM.
Alison would like me to thank you all
for the donation in Matthew’s memory
and to thank all those who have sent
messages of love and support at what
has been a traumatic time for the family,
we really do appreciate all your kind
words.
We are hosting a meet at Lickpenny
Caravan Park near Matlock from the 20th
– 30th July, you are very welcome to join
us (just mention my name when booking
direct with the site before 3rd July). Full
