Minutes of the 2016
Annual General Meeting
Held at the Lower Lacon Caravan Park, Soulton Road, Wem, Shropshire.
SY4 5RP on Sunday May 29th 2016 at 4.00pm
1.Chair’s address and welcome
Paul Kemp, the Chairman of the Club, warmly welcomed everyone to the 2016 and
said he was pleased to see the many people gathered and especially those who had
not been to an AGM for a while. He thanked those who helped arrange the AGM and
especially the marshals who had been doing a splendid job getting people settled.
2. Apologies for absence.
These were received from Dave and Val Woodcock, Dale Parker, Deb and Tony
Campbell and Pete and Lyn Garlick.
3. Minutes of the 2015 AGM
Acceptance of the minutes and their accuracy was proposed by John Rothery and
seconded by Paul Griffiths and unanimously accepted by those attending
4. Matters Arising.
None specific that were not on the Agenda
5. Treasurers Report
Allan Kynes presented his written report. He started by thanking Alan Wismann for
volunteering his time to scrutinise the club’s annual accounts. He said the balance
sheet as of 31st December 2015 shows that we have assets amounting to £4,752.62
from all bank accounts and petty cash. This is a fall of £324.97 from the previous year
2014.
Site fees income for all rallies and the AGM (after deduction of refunds) amounted to
£8,264.90 as opposed to £10,034 for the year 2014 – a drop of £1,7691.10. Advertising
was up and he thanked Tony Burrett for this. He said even though smaller numbers
attended rallies throughout 2015, the club managed to make a profit from rallies
of £775.55 as against a profit of £195.33 for 2014. This was due to the negotiating
skills of our Site Secretary Henry Richbell. The finances of the club are in decline
and will continue to do so as membership is falling, income is decreasing and costs
are gradually rising, all leading to a position where, if we don’t act, to the eventual
collapsing of the club. He put that into context: The Annual membership fees go
towards the management of the club and other expenses. If we peel away all other
income from our annual income (2015) and look how the club fared, he said we can
see the large management deficit we are accruing year-on-year: Although the deficit
is smaller than that of 2014, the trend is still the same in that the club is losing money
year-on-year.
He reminded members that an increase in fees to £25 a year had been agreed
unanimously without dissent at the 2015 AGM with an effective date of January 1st
2016 but despite that some members were still paying the lower rate.
