The Easter rally at Melton Mowbray was
very well attended but on reflection
Easter is always a popular choice for
&
Br
most members getting out with their
units. Over the years we have been to
many different locations for Easter, and
for Melton this was our second time. And
because of its popularity we have
pencilled in a booking for next year with
Easter Sunday falling on April Fool’s Day.
Some might say that’s a bit too early but
again if you look back at the weather we
have had recently early April was warmer
then what we had during this Easter. On
the whole it was dry but there was a

biting cold wind blowing. Any way that’s
enough about the weather.
It was a pleasure as always to provide
some entertainment during the rally
which puts a smile on everyone’s face
and some a few bob in their pockets by
playing my crazy bingo.

Oh, I almost forgot, Paul Kemp and my
quiz theme at the AGM on the Monday
evening theme is America. So please
dress appropriately, it will be a name
game quiz with a prize to the best
dressed American.

The End of an Era -
Contours last paper edition
Over the past few years the
membership has been gradually
decreasing whilst at the same time the
cost of producing a magazine and the
postage has been increasing. During
this time the club’s finances have been
dwindling and the committee have held
numerous discussions on how to ensure
the financial future of the club. We have
been paying out around £400 for each
issue of the magazine and for a small club
with now only around 120 members this
is a huge millstone.
It was therefore decided at the 2016 AGM
that the membership would be asked on
their views about the magazine going
digital and an overwhelming majority
backed the committee’s suggestion that
this be done. It was agreed that because
of advertising we would not be able to
convert until the end of all the advertising
contracts which meant that we would
need to continue until this edition.
There are now only 1 or 2 members who
do not have access to computers of one
sort or another so in this very electronic
age this is the time for change. Of
course we will continue to provide those
members who do not have access with
paper copies but these will be printed
from the online version.
So now our thoughts must turn to how
we go about the digital version – it will still
be called Contours and will be published
in the members’ area of the website. At
this stage we are still researching which
software will be the best to use in order
to make the magazine interesting and
also to enable it to be put together easily.
Of course whether it is paper or digital,
articles will still be needed so you can rest
assured that we will be chasing as before.
All we ask now is that you bear with us
whilst we get everything sorted.
