50 years of food and family at Rich & Charlie's
When asked what he loves about his job, Chuck Pozzo didn’t hesitate: “The people.”
At Rich & Charlie’s Italian Restaurant, owned by Pozzo and brother-in-law Dominic
Puleo, people are everything. From customers who have been dining there since
childhood, to staff members who have been there for 30 to 40 years, and the relatives
that started it all in 1967, it’s all about the people.
“It’s more like a family,” Pozzo said. “That’s the way I
like it.”
“My mother and father used to make all the cannelloni,
manicotti, and both toasted and regular ravioli. It’s in my
blood.”
The family atmosphere extends to the restaurant, the
food and the prices. In honor of Rich & Charlie's 50th
anniversary, customers can order pasta that was available
on the original 1967 menu, the famous house salad and
a cannoli for $19.67.
“Come join us in the newly remodeled dining room at the
Woods Mill location,” said Pozzo.
Though customer tastes have changed over the years
and some lighter fares have been added, most of the menu items remain the same.
The Famous Rich & Charlie’s Salad [dressing is sold in-house, as well as Dierberg’s,
Schnucks, other grocery stores and online] is still a fan favorite, as is their bestselling
Pasta Con Broccoli. Monday nights
feature all-you-can-eat pasta, plus
salad and garlic bread. Sunday through
Thursday features Taste of Italy, which
offers garlic bread, salad and pasta.
