OUR COMMITTEE STRUCTURE<br />
As explained earlier in this statement, in addition to the Audit, Risk <strong>and</strong> Governance Committee, Sport Engl<strong>and</strong><br />
established three new Committees in September <strong>2016</strong> – the Investment Committee, the Workforce Committee,<br />
<strong>and</strong> the Chairs <strong>and</strong> Remuneration Committee (previously the Terms <strong>and</strong> Remuneration Committee). The Project<br />
Committee was disb<strong>and</strong>ed in September <strong>2016</strong>, with its functions relating to approving <strong>and</strong> monitoring major grant<br />
awards being undertaken by the Investment Committee<br />
Set out below are some of the key areas which the Committees focused on during the year.<br />
Project Committee (disb<strong>and</strong>ed September <strong>2016</strong>)<br />
Audit, Risk <strong>and</strong> Governance Committee<br />
• Approval of all major capital <strong>and</strong> revenue awards<br />
under the 2012-20<strong>17</strong> strategy, including for<br />
example:<br />
• Regular review of corporate (strategic) <strong>and</strong> operational<br />
risk profile<br />
• The <strong>2016</strong>-20<strong>17</strong> <strong>accounts</strong> preparation process<br />
- Strategic Facilities • Review of financial forecasts including critically cash<br />
- Improvement Fund flow <strong>and</strong> detailed monitoring of monthly management<br />
- Protecting playing fields<br />
<strong>accounts</strong> every quarter<br />
- Our dedicated youth <strong>and</strong> disability programmes<br />
• National Governing Body <strong>and</strong> partner governance,<br />
including key issues arising from the audit <strong>and</strong><br />
assurance process<br />
• The internal audit plan for <strong>2016</strong>-20<strong>17</strong> <strong>and</strong> internal audit<br />
<strong>report</strong>s<br />
• Regular <strong>report</strong>s on fraud <strong>and</strong> whistleblowing<br />
Investment Committee (est. Sept <strong>2016</strong>)<br />

under new investment programmes – Tackling <br />
Inactivity, Children <strong>and</strong> Young People, Volunteering,<br />
Mass Markets, Sustaining the Core Market, Working<br />

- School Games <strong>and</strong> organisers<br />

Workforce Committee<br />
• Oversight <strong>and</strong> development of Workforce <br />
Strategy, Volunteering Strategy, Coaching Plan for<br />
Engl<strong>and</strong>, Professional Development – Leadership<br />
<strong>and</strong> Diversity, including for example:<br />
- Coaching Plan implementation <strong>and</strong> investment<br />
- Volunteering implementation <strong>and</strong> investment<br />
- Professional workforce<br />
Chairs & Remuneration Committee (est. Sept <strong>2016</strong>)<br />
• Maintained overview of developments in public sector<br />
pay<br />
• Chief Executive’s remuneration, performance <strong>and</strong><br />
objectives<br />
• Advised the Chief Executive on organisational design<br />
<strong>and</strong> any structural changes required to support the<br />
implementation of the new strategy.<br />
