I would like to thank Mike Bisset and his team from the church for giving our children such a wonderful morning in this beautiful church. We have had a money raising event where we made a spiral from pound coins. The children enjoyed making the spiral and the money raised went to Child Bereavement UK as they are supporting bereaved families form the incident. We had our summer fair which suffered from the rain for the first hour or so but a good number of people ventured out and eventually the rain did stop! We also had our leaver’s camp sleepover for children and parents which was enjoyed by all. We had leaver’s assemblies and leaver’s concerts with a little sadness that our lovely pupils leave us for their new schools-we needed to make sure that plenty of boxes of tissues were available! We wish them all every success and happiness in their new schools and hope their memories of TGFS will remain with them as they start on the next stage of their learning journey. We also said goodbye to Mrs Moses and Mrs Taylor and wished them both well for their future. The children received a Small gift as they left to remind them of their time at TGFS. This links to our very special teddy in our bell tower who watches over the school at all times! All our pupils have become the confident, independent young people with a thirst for learning and a positive, motivated attitude that I knew they would be. It has been a real pleasure to be part of their learning and life journey. Janice Dieppe The P&TG Village Pre-school Our Summer Fayre, held on Sat 10th June on The Common was a huge success. Thank you to all who came along and helped and/or supported us, and thanks to Joe Gleeson for providing the burgers for the BBQ. We raised £1400 and have arranged for the children to go on a group outing to Beale Park before the end of term. www.pennandtylersgreen.org.uk Village Voice August/September 2017 We lost the majority of our children in July as they will move on to school. These will be replaced in September so we will have a large influx of 2-year old’s. We are in the process of planning our room layout and furniture to best accommodate these little ones, so are revamping our furniture with the money we raised from the London Marathon sponsorship. We experienced great success with Living Eggs. 9 out of the 10 eggs we had hatched and the children enjoyed the experience of watching them hatch and caring for the chicks once they were moved from the incubator. We currently have caterpillars that have cocooned and we eagerly await them turning into butterflies which we will release in the garden. Bookings are being taken for September 2017 and beyond – children from 2 years old are welcome and we are proud to offer the 30 hours to those who are eligible. Nicky Lovegrove Little Oaks Hampered by wet weather in early June, the Little Oaks 15th birthday celebrations were not quite as exuberant as planned. Little Oaks One children met on the back common because their hall being used for the general election (remember that?!) whilst Little Oaks Two children walked there from St Margaret’s. Although we managed a morning of action (Forest School tasters, obstacle courses and parachute games for LO1 & Sports Day events for LO2) we could not meet the crèche families for our planned celebratory picnic. Rain stopped play as the last sporting medal was awarded, and we all ran for cover. The middle of June heralded ‘Daddy & Me’ events to celebrate Fathers’ Day, and at LO2 this gave us a chance to teach children about housing and shelter for all people. We 19
