Om Puri was an Indian actor who had appeared in both mainstream Indian films and art<br />
films. His credits include appearances in British and American films. Puri graduated from<br />
the Film and Television Institute of India and was also an alumnus of the 1973 class of<br />
National School of Drama where Naseeruddin Shah was a co-student. He made his film<br />
debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, based on a Marathi play of the same name.<br />

Anant realizes that the police are manipulated<br />
by politicians. Frustrated, he turns his anger<br />
on suspects held in cells and beats them<br />
mercilessly. His frustrations rise after he is<br />
sidelined for a medal and counseled to resign<br />
from this job. Things only get worse after he<br />
brutally assaults a suspect resulting in death.<br />
