Thermal EOR: ONGC has approved<br />

implementation of Cyclic Steam Stimulation<br />

(CSS) as a pilot project in Lanwa field. The<br />

study envisaged incremental oil gain of 0.32<br />

MMT in 8 years.<br />

Chemical EOR: Way forward laboratory<br />

study for San<strong>and</strong> Field polymer flood<br />

project was carried out with increased<br />

concentration of Polymer <strong>and</strong> ASP Flooding<br />

to enhance Linear Core Displacement<br />

Efficiency (LCDE) over existing Polymer<br />

flood. The study envisages 15 % additional<br />

LCDE over polymer flood. Simulation Study<br />

of Alkali-Surfactant in K-VA was carried<br />

out after successful encouraging results<br />

in laboratory. Laboratory chemical EOR<br />

studies in Northern part of North Kadi field<br />

was carried out. Laboratory results are<br />

encouraging with 12% additional LCDE with<br />

Polymer Flood <strong>and</strong> 22% additional LCDE<br />

with Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) flood.<br />

Preparation of Integrated Geo-cellular<br />

Models (GCM): As an important initiative<br />

to move from conventional map-based<br />

Geological model to fine scale Geocellular<br />

Model (GCM), IRS has taken lead<br />

in preparing GCMs of major fields in recent past in order to address<br />

issues of brownfield development by capturing reservoir heterogeneity,<br />

improved water flooding efficiency, optimizing infill drilling, etc. During<br />

FY 2015-16, GCM of G<strong>and</strong>har (GS-3A, 3B, 5C, 8 <strong>and</strong> 11), Limbodra, NBP<br />

(Revisit), B-192 <strong>and</strong> G-1 were taken up.<br />

8.2 CAIRN<br />

8.2.1 IOR/EOR<br />

Mangla EOR: One of the largest polymer flood implementation execution<br />

was completed in Mangla Oil field (block RJ-ON-90/1). The surface<br />

facilities <strong>and</strong> drilling activities were completed <strong>and</strong> polymer injection<br />

was ramped up to the target 400,000 Barrels of polymerized injection<br />

water per day during the 4 th quarter of the FY 2016. This is a significant<br />

achievement for the block which will enhance the production from this<br />

field. Incremental oil production in the range of ~20, 000 BOPD is being<br />

produced from EOR which is as per expectations of the FDP. Drilling of the<br />

FDP wells have been completed <strong>and</strong> few wells surface facilities hookup<br />

is ongoing.<br />

The Rajasthan block have similar field in the blocks such as Bhagyam<br />

<strong>and</strong> Aishwariya which are good c<strong>and</strong>idates for chemical EOR. Screening<br />

<strong>and</strong> core flood studies have been completed <strong>and</strong> field implementation<br />

development plans for converting these fields on water flood to chemical<br />

EOR floods is under progress.<br />

The Mangla ASP pilot was concluded after drilling core wells <strong>and</strong> the<br />

recovery from the pilot area was ascertained. The results from the pilot<br />

were very promising <strong>and</strong> further work is ongoing to prepare a development<br />

plan based on the results of the pilot. Bhagyam <strong>and</strong> Aishwariya ASP<br />

studies were also initiated.<br />
