3.2.3 Awareness raising activities for municipal employees<br />
A significant step to achieve the planned targets is to have properly communicated the<br />
municipality’s intentions to the people working within those buildings. In this respect, this<br />
action comprises of a set of targeted awareness raising activities towards the municipal<br />
employees. The aim of these activities is to encourage the municipal employees to change<br />
their behavior and habits in order to achieve the envisaged results.<br />
The set of awareness raising and training actions to be realised for the municipal employees<br />
includes the following:<br />
• Training workshops and seminars for the team members directly involved in the <strong>SECAP</strong><br />
implementation and monitoring. This activity aims at the capacity building regarding<br />
<strong>SECAP</strong> development and project implementation of the employees directly involved in the<br />
<strong>SECAP</strong> implementation team. These workshops and seminars could be targeted on how<br />
to attract financing from international donors, to manage the project implementation or<br />
even focus on the exchange of best practices and ideas with other municipalities in Jordan<br />
and abroad that face the same challenges. Workshops on the latest available know how<br />
in terms of energy efficiency and RES technologies are envisaged as well.<br />
• Development and circulation of promotional material through the employees’ e-mails on<br />
the benefits of energy efficiency and how simple behavior changes impact the total<br />
consumption.<br />
• Municipal contest for the administrative building with the highest energy savings achieved<br />
(in terms of %) due to users’ behavior change. This contest prize could be any incentive<br />
provided to the employees, such as two additional days off that year or the development<br />
of posters with the pictures and names of the employees that contributed to the goal. The<br />
aim would be to achieve energy savings through strictly behavioral change, such as turning<br />
off the lights, the A/C and office equipment when leaving the office, not leaving open<br />
windows with the A/C on etc. This measure could be used during the first couple of years,<br />
when the rest of the energy efficiency interventions will be gradually taking place.<br />
This action will be realized in Project fiche’s #5 framework. (Energy savings and emission<br />
reduction are calculated separately from the fiche.<br />
