There will be festive goodies galore as Lichfield’s<br />

Christmas Food Festival takes over the city centre for a<br />

weekend of tasty treats and festive spirit - or spirits! More<br />

than 165 stalls will be packed with all manner of delicious<br />

offerings, from freshly baked bread, cakes and sweet<br />

treats to cocktails and coffee, and local restaurants will be<br />

offering up samples of some of their favourite dishes. As<br />

well as enjoy the mouthwatering fayre on offer, visitors<br />

can also shop for Christmas gifts for the foodies in their<br />

lives.<br />

Organised by Cocker Hoop Creative and supported by<br />

Lichfield BID, Lichfield’s food festivals are becoming<br />

a huge attraction for locals and visitors alike, with tens<br />

of thousands of people flocking to the summer foodie<br />

extravaganza over the August Bank Holiday weekend. For<br />

As you hunt through the Castle on your Santa trail you<br />

will meet the Victorian household readying themselves for<br />

the annual visit of a very special guest. Visitors will join<br />

in with a series of activities by helping the cook to make<br />

Christmas pudding, the mistress to decorate the Castle<br />

and the stablehand to find the reindeers’ carrots, before<br />

entering Santa’s grotto to receive a surprise gift.<br />

Pre-booking is essential, and admission is priced at £7<br />

per child aged three and over and £4 per child aged up<br />

to two. The first two adults accompanying per child will<br />

be charged at £4.50 each, and any other adults thereafter<br />

WHAT: Carols by Candlelight<br />

WHERE: National Memorial Arboretum<br />

WHEN: <strong>December</strong> 16<br />

Take in the beautiful winter surroundings of the National<br />

Memorial Arboretum for the annual Christmas carol<br />

concert. Suitable for all ages, this traditional carol service<br />

will fill you with festive spirit. The concert will be held in<br />

Heroes’ Square among illuminated trees and hundreds<br />

of candles, and visitors will enjoy a variety of sing-along<br />

festive music. Carol books, candles and refreshments are<br />

available to purchase. The highlight of the Arboretum’s<br />

festive calendar, music will be provided by the Burton<br />

Salvation Army Band and, as it gets very busy, early arrival<br />

is recommended. Entry to the event is free, although<br />

iconic film The Snowman on a big screen brought to<br />

life by some of the UK’s finest musicians.<br />

A highlight of the film for many is the evocative<br />

Walking in the Air which will be sung by a young<br />

soloist in perfect synchronicity with the film on the big<br />

screen, ensuring there is not a dry eye in the house.<br />

The programme also includes Tom Scott’s highly<br />

acclaimed and enchanting animated film to<br />

accompany Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite - surely the<br />

most Christmassy and popular of all seasonal music -<br />
