Advanced Nature Workshops: <strong>Winter</strong> Birding<br />

2-Day Session<br />

Through specimen studies, slideshow quizzes, and hikes in<br />

the Cassatt Preserve, this workshop will dig deeper into the<br />

behaviors of our common backyard birds, and also take a look<br />

at some of the less common birds that can be found here in<br />

the colder months. Registration fee includes two three-hour<br />

sessions (9am – noon Saturday and Sunday). Workshop meets<br />

in the Carriage House – Science Lab. Binoculars are available for loan.<br />

Using UMLY's collection of animals and specimens,<br />

children will learn how to make basic sketches and 3D<br />

models of plants and animals with a variety of media. We<br />

will also use materials found in nature to make exciting<br />

art projects indoors and outdoors.<br />

Get up close and personal with the animals in the nature<br />

center and on UMLY farm! Students will learn how to<br />

properly interact with and care for animals, and discover<br />

how plants, animals and humans all depend on each other.<br />
