The State Government cash injection was announced last Thursday by Lane Cove MP Anthony Roberts who said the widening and upgrade of Delhi Road will be from the Hills M2 motorway to the Lane Cove National Park and will reduce travel times. The works will be undertaken next year by Landcom to coincide with the first arrival of 5,000 new residents at Landcom’s Lachlan’s Line Priority Precinct development “The sustainable development of a new mixed-use precinct like Lachlan’s Line requires upgrades to local infrastructure, including roads, to support the growth of this new community,” Mr Roberts said. “Landcom has already commenced these works and is on target to deliver this important infrastructure upgrade prior to the first residents moving into the Lachlan’s Line development.” Mr Roberts conceded that the works could cause traffic delays. “I thank road users in advance for their patience as we undertake these important works,” he said. The road project was recently prioritised by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, City of Ryde Council and Roads and Maritime Services. “The improvements are designed to help ease traffic congestion in the area and will include the construction of an additional eastbound lane, undergrounding of the existing overhead electrical and telecommunication lines, repositioning of bus stops, modifications to associated traffic signals, new footpaths, landscaping, early detector loops and line marking to improve traffic flow” Mr Roberts added. The works are scheduled to begin shortly in order for completion to be achieved in mid- 2018, prior to Transport for NSW’s temporary closure of the Epping to Chatswood rail line. The construction zones will primarily affect Delhi Road’s eastbound lanes and road users can expect disruptions including temporary lane modifications, increased truck movements, changes to alignment of footpaths, driveways and bus stop locations.
