<strong>How</strong> <strong>to</strong> get started <strong>at</strong> <strong>SGH</strong>?<br />

Orient<strong>at</strong>ion Week<br />

During the first week you will get an in-depth review of the inform<strong>at</strong>ion in this guide and<br />

much more. You will learn about studies, accommod<strong>at</strong>ion, facilities, tu<strong>to</strong>ring, trips<br />

arranged for intern<strong>at</strong>ional students etc. You will probably be filling out some more papers,<br />

<strong>to</strong>o…<br />

Tu<strong>to</strong>ring<br />

Exchange students can get tu<strong>to</strong>ring during the tu<strong>to</strong>ring hours from those responsible for<br />

their programmes. Check the timetables <strong>at</strong> the entrance of the Centre. Group meetings etc.<br />

for exchange students are also possible, keep an eye on the notice board next <strong>to</strong><br />

classrooms no. 9 and 10, ground floor building A.<br />

• Doc<strong>to</strong>ral students<br />

Warsaw School of Economics is authorised <strong>to</strong> award the degree of PhD in economics and<br />

managerial sciences. Doc<strong>to</strong>ral courses are conducted by the Collegia which offers special<br />

Doc<strong>to</strong>ral Programmes but only in Polish. For students without a good command of Polish,<br />

an individual p<strong>at</strong>h of doc<strong>to</strong>r<strong>at</strong>e is offered. Applicants’ qualific<strong>at</strong>ions must be recognised as<br />

equivalent <strong>to</strong> the Polish Magister (Masters’) degree and applicants must be eligible for<br />

doc<strong>to</strong>ral courses in their countries. <strong>How</strong>ever, even in the case of such a qualific<strong>at</strong>ion, the<br />

Collegia may yet require additional conditions <strong>to</strong> be met. The following documents should<br />

be submitted either in Polish or English, German and French <strong>to</strong> the Centre for Intern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

Programmes Development:<br />

• applic<strong>at</strong>ion form;<br />

• copy of diploma;<br />

• Curriculum Vitae;<br />

• thesis <strong>to</strong>pic;<br />

• written confirm<strong>at</strong>ion by <strong>SGH</strong> professor th<strong>at</strong> he or she will provide academic supervision<br />

<strong>to</strong> the applicant, if possible;<br />

• a health certific<strong>at</strong>e (need only be submitted by applicants accepted for study <strong>at</strong> <strong>SGH</strong>).<br />

The copy of a diploma must be officially confirmed or conform <strong>to</strong> the original and proper<br />

copy with a stamp and sign<strong>at</strong>ure issued by the Embassy or Consul<strong>at</strong>e of Poland or the<br />
