THE STUDENT UNION (Student Self-Government)<br />

The Student Union is a body th<strong>at</strong> represents all students of the Warsaw School of<br />

Economics. Apart from providing Polish students with housing and financial aid, it<br />

organizes a variety of cultural events. The Foreign Affairs Committee as well as the<br />

Represent<strong>at</strong>ive of Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Students is <strong>at</strong> your disposal. We will be happy <strong>to</strong> welcome<br />

you in our room no. 2a near the entrance <strong>to</strong> the main building (G)!<br />

AEGEE<br />

The Warsaw branch of AEGEE is one of the so-called “antennas” sc<strong>at</strong>tered around Europe<br />

associ<strong>at</strong>ing with about 15,000 students of different universities and faculties.<br />

The aim of AEGEE is the wide promotion of the idea of European integr<strong>at</strong>ion among youth.<br />

Already <strong>to</strong>day AEGEE presents and discusses ideas and projects cre<strong>at</strong>ed in the perspective<br />

of the Europe of <strong>to</strong>morrow and show how <strong>to</strong> make them work.<br />

AEGEE suits everyone who:<br />

– enjoys intern<strong>at</strong>ional events and fun<br />

– likes low-cost travelling throughout Europe<br />

– wants <strong>to</strong> particip<strong>at</strong>e in conferences and student exchange programmes<br />

– is interested in organising his or her own event — all you need is enthusiasm and loads<br />

of ideas! The majority of the AEGEE members in Warsaw are <strong>SGH</strong> students. They g<strong>at</strong>her<br />

for social meetings <strong>at</strong> “Piwnica Architektów” on Wednesday evenings.<br />

AIESEC<br />

AIESEC, the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of Students of Economic and Commerce Sciences, is the biggest<br />

and the most intern<strong>at</strong>ional student organis<strong>at</strong>ion in existence. It is present and active in<br />

more than 75 countries throughout the world. Aside from the intern<strong>at</strong>ional character of<br />

AIESEC in its broadest sense, the most important fe<strong>at</strong>ures of the organis<strong>at</strong>ion are th<strong>at</strong> it is<br />

non-political and non-profit making and th<strong>at</strong> it has an educ<strong>at</strong>ional profile. AIESEC means<br />

becoming acquainted with many people and cultures from all over the world. It also<br />

means perfecting skills and abilities – this is achieved by cre<strong>at</strong>ing a bridge between<br />

students and companies. The regular activities of the Local Committee AIESEC <strong>SGH</strong> are:<br />

• Job Fair in autumn and spring<br />

• Annual Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Seminar<br />

• East joins West programme (in cooper<strong>at</strong>ion with LCs from Russia, L<strong>at</strong>via, Lithuania and<br />

Ukraine)<br />

• Case <strong>Study</strong> Weekend<br />

• Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Traineeship Exchange programme<br />

• AIESEC days, present<strong>at</strong>ion of AIESEC held <strong>at</strong> <strong>SGH</strong><br />
