Studying at the Warsaw School of Economics • Degree students Main full-time study programmes leading to Licencjat (Bachelors’) and Magister (Masters’) degrees are offered in the Polish language. Also, a large number of selected courses are available in other languages. Students who want to take up a full study programme leading to the final degree diploma are required to have completed their secondary education and must be eligible for university education in their own country. Application for admission to SGH must be made on a special application form available at the Admission Office (Dział Nauczania), along with an information sheet, on request. Niepodległości 162, 02-554 Warszawa, Poland Tel: + 48 22 849 53 77; fax: +48 22 849 53 12; e-mail address: dn@sgh.waw.pl • Non-degree students Visiting students (free-movers): Warsaw School of Economics makes available the whole range of its undergraduate and graduate courses to visiting students with an appropriate background. International students who would like to study at SGH for a limited period (one or two semesters) and do not wish to obtain a degree may enrol without entrance examination. Within the offered courses, they are able to create an academic programme suiting their own particular interests and needs. To get a transcript of records, the students must study a full load, i.e. 30 ECTS credits for a semester or 60 ECTS credits for a year. For more information please contact the address of the Centre for International Programmes Development given below. For the application purpose you are required to produce transcripts of records for the last two semesters of your studies in your home university; candidates who graduated from secondary schools will not be accepted. Moreover you are required to be a student of your university in the semester preceding your coming to our school and this should be certified with the stamp of your home university on the application form which you are obliged to send to us. Deadlines: In each case, applications for admission must reach the relevant department at SGH by 17th of May for Fall Semester and Academic Year and by 15th of November for Spring Semester. Fees and grants: The fee for students wanting to study in our school as non-degree students is as follows: Citizens of European Union and EFTA member countries Enrolment fee – 80 PLN/semester Tuition fee – 420 PLN for each 30 hours course selected by the student 6
Students from the countries outside of EU and EFTA: Enrolment fee – 80 PLN/semester Tuition fee – 300 EURO for each 30 hours course selected by the student Students of Polish origin have the right to claim 30% reduction of the full payment. The minimum number of courses which each “independent study” student has to take is 4; therefore the basic payment for one semester will be 1760 PLN and 1200 EURO + 80 PLN respectively. The payment must be made before coming to the university to the account given in the confirmation of acceptance. The Letter of Acceptance will be sent to the student after receiving the payment. Fees for international degree students: for undergraduate, graduate studies (excluding Executive MBA students) and doctorate studies the registration is EUR 200 and the tuition fee for one year of the full time programme is EUR 5000. Full time students from EU countries are exempt from tuition fees. SGH does not award grants or financial aid. There are a few scholarships available in Poland through the Ministry of National Education as a consequence of conventions and exchanges programs between Poland and other countries. Information about these can be obtained from Polish consulates and Embassies. Students are advised to seek financial support in their home countries. Exchange students Exchange students can register for all the courses offered in English and other languages (including Polish) providing they know fluently the language in which the course is taught. Students can participate also in courses which are offered within the Master’s Programme in Global Economics and Business, the CEMS Programme, the Polish-German Academic Forum and the CIEE Programme; in case of the latter the number of attendants is limited and the priority is given to students of CIEE.
