Focus on achieving goals at
Hornby fitness centre
SOUTHERN VIEW
For Hornby residents, there’s no
reason not to stay fit when the
Hornby fitness studio Anytime
Fitness is open 24 hours a day,
plus being conveniently located in the
heart of the Hornby shopping area, it is
easy to access too.
At just over 17 months old, this bright,
modern, unisex gym offers facilities that
are in tip-top condition and very clean.
There are eight friendly staff members,
including five personal trainers, who have
members’ best interests at heart.
Anytime Fitness offers a range of group
fitness classes, as well as virtual classes,
with the focus being on helping people
achieve their health and fitness goals, says
manager Chris.
On joining the club, new members
are given one hour free with a personal
trainer, who will show them how to use
the equipment and give them exercises to
get them started, she says.
“We like to work on people,” Chris
says. “We ask new members if they’ve
belonged to a fitness club before and we
talk to them about what their goals are and
see if their plans for what they want to do
at the gym measure up realistically with
these goals.
“We nurture our members, and if they
haven’t been to the gym regularly we
follow up by text or email to make sure
everything is alright with them, and help
them get back on track if necessary.”
This can include a motivation session
with a personal trainer and a free six to
eight-week programme, depending on
their lack of use.
“After all, they have paid to join the gym,
so we want to show them we appreciate
that and encourage them to keep up their
fitness regime by giving them a kick-start
if they need it,” Chris says.
Prospective members who are not
sure about joining up are offered a free,
no-obligation seven-day trial on seven
consecutive days. As of September 1, the
club has also introduced a new month-tomonth
flexible contract.
Members of Anytime Fitness Hornby
are all ages and from all walks of life, with
a lot of families belonging to the club.
“One person will join, and they enjoy
it so much they tell their family members
about it and they come along too. Those
referrals are a testament to how good our
club is,” Chris says.
The club also runs a number of social
events and activities during the year,
which gives members the opportunity to
socialise and get to know each other.
Members of Anytime Fitness Hornby
can also access all five of the Anytime
Fitness centres in Christchurch, as well as
the other 24 centres around New Zealand,
and the thousands across the world.
