Prebbleton baker’s cakes in<br />

birthday cake splashed with<br />
colour to a elegantly-designed<br />
wedding cake topped with<br />
intricate fondant flowers<br />
– Felicity Goodfellow’s<br />
home-baking is growing in<br />
popularity.<br />
With a love for challenging<br />
her baking skills, the<br />
Prebbleton resident has baked<br />
an array of cakes which are in<br />
hot demand with friends and<br />
family.<br />
Her baking has received a<br />
surge of support on Instagram<br />
and Facebook, with people<br />
asking if she will start up her<br />
own business.<br />
“I just sell to friends and<br />
family but I wouldn’t say I<br />
have got a business as such,<br />
and I don’t think I really want<br />
to go down that route of having<br />
a business. But never say<br />
never, who knows,” she said.<br />
Creating picturesque cakes<br />
wasn’t always a desire of Mrs<br />
Goodfellow’s.<br />
But when her eldest daughter<br />
Emmy celebrated her first<br />
birthday in 2014, the former<br />
Avonside Girls’ High School<br />
teacher was determined to<br />
make her daughter’s day as<br />
special as possible.<br />

“I had some time up my<br />
sleeve because I was off on my<br />
maternity leave from teaching<br />
. . . it was that time in my<br />
life where I could challenge<br />
myself,” she said.<br />
Soon after successfully<br />
baking her daughter a “giant<br />
cupcake”, Mrs Goodfellow<br />
began hunting for more cakes<br />
to bake in a bid to perfect her<br />
new craft.<br />
Four years down the line<br />
and she has created a range of<br />
cakes, from the three-layered<br />
hungry caterpillar-themed<br />

cake to an “ice cream smash”<br />
cake and a layered macaroon<br />
cake.<br />
“I love helping people to<br />
make their special day and<br />
seeing the joy on their face<br />
when I drop off their cake,”<br />
she said.<br />
