This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed and supportive<br />
team in working with prison-based learners to become better<br />
prepared for employment and further education. In addition to<br />
undertaking assessments, developing learning pathway and supporting<br />
learners to engage in a variety of secure online education websites,<br />
you will also play a significant role in delivering a variety of education<br />
programmes and activities and encouraging learners to improve their<br />
literacy and numeracy skills; work towards achieving New Zealand<br />
qualifications; and acquire job search skills.<br />
You will be required to work effectively in a custodial environment and<br />
by interacting closely with key stakeholders, you will be collaborative<br />
in sharing information and ensuring outcomes beneficial to the<br />
successful rehabilitation of our offenders.<br />
We would like to hear from you if you have:<br />
• Experience and a good understanding of assessing learning needs,<br />
and working with young people and adults who have not previously<br />
experienced education success<br />
• Demonstrated competency in e-learning environments and in using<br />
computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, TEC Literacy<br />
and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tool (LNAAT), Pathways Awarua<br />
• Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and<br />
experience with embedding literacy and numeracy<br />
• Experience successfully engaging Maori, Pasifika, and at-risk youth<br />
in education, as well as a strengths-based approach that embraces<br />
manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.<br />
A full driver’s licence is essential for this position. The preferred<br />
applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication and<br />
organisation skills as well as the ability to influence, inspire and<br />
