One of the community volunteers in Banao,
Bauko Mountain Province shared during an inter-
LGU learning visit in the barangay on July 27, 2016.
The community narrated the story behind the
slope protection they built at Banao Elementary
School.
They recalled that the area was riprapped
twice but was eroded both times prompting the
community to solve the problem themselves.
With the entrance of the first cycle Kalahi-CIDSS
NCDDP in the barangay, they prioritized the slope
protection to put an end to the unsafe learning
environment of their children.
Now, the community is satisfied with the
structure they labored to build. According to
observations of LGU visitors, the community has
done well by excavating the soil from the top of
the site to prevent it from pushing the structure
during heavy rainfalls.
The support of the barangay officials has
been noted as one of the main contributor in the
successful implementation of the sub-project.
