Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) - Compulsory Training
Some children and young people avoid and resist everyday demands and
expectations to an extreme extent. They may use social strategies as part
of avoidance, e.g. distracting, giving excuses. They may experience
excessive mood swings and impulsivity and appear comfortable in role play
and pretence.
In addition, some children and young people may display obsessive
behaviours that is often focused on other people. Demand avoidant
behaviours are rooted in an anxiety-based need to be in control.
As part of your specialised training package you will be guided through an
e–booklet which shows you how to better understand this condition and it
will give you simple strategies as to how you can best support children and
young people with PDA.
