Reflections I love the

Reflections I love the beauty of your autumn earth I walk beneath flamboyant trees and see my own mortality in blazing leaves You promise life to those who like these trees let fall a reign of glory on your world You are the bare brown earth of winter fields the ice along a breathless branch But when I rest within your silent sleep I feel the first faint pulse of Spring begin to beat

These frozen days you offer me are like the bread I scatter for the birds. They taste of ash upon my tongue but oh! I must believe that warmth will come. You are the root that holds me safely in this rock. You are the crack no mortal eye can see to which I cling tenaciously.
