He has taught the entire humanity how they should act and behave so that they may lead a life of comfort and peace in the world and in the Hereafter. Choosing some of the people whose deserved destination in the Hereafter is Hell, He will magnanimously forgive them and bless them with Paradise....

SALUTATIONS <strong>and</strong> GREETINGS<br />
(Among Muslims)<br />
WhentwoMuslimsmeet,itisanactofsunnatfor<strong>the</strong>mtosay,<br />
“Salâmun ’alaikum,”toeacho<strong>the</strong>r<strong>and</strong>to(shakeh<strong>and</strong>switheach<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r, i.e. to) make musâfaha with <strong>the</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s. As <strong>the</strong>y make<br />
musâfaha,<strong>the</strong>irsinsbecomeshakenoff.<br />
It is an act of harâm, which is sinful, to greet (by saying,<br />
“Salâmun’alaikum,”)<strong>the</strong>followingeightpeople:<br />
1–Nâ-mahram [1] girls<strong>and</strong>youngwomenmustnotbegreeted.<br />
2–Peoplewhoplaychessoranyo<strong>the</strong>rgamemustnotbegreeted.<br />
3–Peoplewhogamblemustnotbegreeted.<br />
4–Peoplewhodrinkalcoholicbeveragesmustnotbegreeted.<br />
5–Peoplewhobackbiteo<strong>the</strong>rsmustnotbegreeted.<br />
6–Singersmustnotbegreeted.<br />
7– People who commit sins openly <strong>and</strong> publicly must not be<br />
greeted.<br />
8–Menwholookat(nâ-mahram)women<strong>and</strong>girlsmustnotbe<br />
greeted.<br />
People seen doing <strong>the</strong> following things must not be greeted<br />
onlyaslongas<strong>the</strong>yareinthatstate:<br />
1–Apersonperformingnamâzmustnotbegreeted.<br />
2–Akhatîbmustnotbegreetedasheismaking<strong>the</strong>khutba.<br />
3–Apersonreading(orreciting)<strong>the</strong>Qur’ân-alkerîmmustnot<br />
begreeted.<br />
4–Apersondhikringorpreachingmustnotbegreeted.<br />
5–Apersonreading(orreciting)hadîth-i-sherîfsmustnotbe<br />
greeted.<br />
6– A person listening to <strong>the</strong> aforesaid activities must not be<br />
greeted.<br />
7–ApersonstudyingteachingsofFiqhmustnotbegreeted.<br />
8–Judgesatlawcourtsmustnotbegreeted.<br />
9–Peoplediscussingreligiousteachingsmustnotbegreeted.<br />
10–Amuadhdhin(ormuazzin)mustnotbegreetedasheis<br />
performing(calling)<strong>the</strong>azân(oradhân).<br />
