Allâhu ta’âlâ will be kind to <strong>the</strong>m <strong>and</strong> take <strong>the</strong>m out of Hell<br />
thous<strong>and</strong>sofyearslater.However,skinsofpeopleinHellwillbe<br />
created again after being burned. Hasan Basrî ‘rahmatullâhu<br />
’alaih’,(d.110[728A.D.],)wouldsay,“IwishIwereoneofthose<br />
people.” <strong>The</strong>re is no doubt as to <strong>the</strong> fact that Hasan Basrî<br />
‘rahmatullâhi’alaih’wasapersonwhoknewwellabout<strong>the</strong>events<br />
in<strong>the</strong><strong>Hereafter</strong>.On<strong>the</strong>dayofJudgment,aMuslimisbrought.He<br />
hasnocharitytoweighheavieron<strong>the</strong>scales.Allâhuta’âlâ,for<strong>the</strong><br />
sakeofhisîmân<strong>and</strong>outofHiscompassionfor<strong>the</strong>Believer,tells<br />
him:“Go to o<strong>the</strong>r people <strong>and</strong> look for a person who will give you<br />
<strong>the</strong> thawâb (rewards) that he deserved on account of <strong>the</strong> good<br />
deeds <strong>and</strong> acts of charity (thatheperformedin<strong>the</strong>world). You<br />
will enter Paradise owing to his kindness!”Thatpersongoes<strong>and</strong><br />
looksforsomeonetohelphimtoattainhiswish.Everyoneheasks<br />
gives <strong>the</strong> same answer: “I fear that my own charity may weigh<br />
lighteron<strong>the</strong>scales.Iammoreneedythanyouare.”Heisvery<br />
sadnow.Someonecomesnearhim<strong>and</strong>askshimwhathewants.“I<br />
need charity [thawâb]. I have asked almost a thous<strong>and</strong> people.<br />
Each person I ask finds a pretext <strong>and</strong> declines,” he says. That<br />
personsaysuntohim:“Ientered<strong>the</strong>presenceofAllâhuta’âlâ.I<br />
foundnothinginmypage,exceptforasinglethawâb.Itwillnot<br />
suffice to save me anyway. Let me donate it to you. Take it!”<br />
Relieved<strong>and</strong>happy,<strong>the</strong>needypersonleaves.Allâhuta’âlâknows<br />
whathashappened,butHeasks:“Whatareyoubackwith?”That<br />
persontellsabouthisadventures.Allâhuta’âlâbids<strong>the</strong>donator<br />
also to His presence <strong>and</strong> says unto <strong>the</strong>m: “My Kindness to<br />
Believers is more than your kindness. Hold your Muslim bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />
by <strong>the</strong> h<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> you two go to Paradise.”<br />
Ifbothscalesof<strong>the</strong>balancestayon<strong>the</strong>samelevel<strong>and</strong><strong>the</strong>scale<br />
carrying <strong>the</strong> thawâb does not weigh heavier, Allâhu ta’âlâ says:<br />
“This person is nei<strong>the</strong>r for Paradise nor for Hell.”<strong>The</strong>reuponan<br />
angelcomesforthwithapage<strong>and</strong>placesiton<strong>the</strong>scaleofseyyiât<br />
[sins].Asignonitsays,‘Ugh’.Sothatscaleweighsheavierthan<br />
that of good deeds. For, it is a word of protest, “Ugh,” uttered<br />
towardsparents.Itincurs<strong>the</strong>comm<strong>and</strong>mentthatthatpersonbe<br />
hurledintoHell.Thatpersonlooksright<strong>and</strong>left.Hedem<strong>and</strong>sthat<br />
hebecalledbyAllâhuta’âlâ.Allâhuta’âlâcallshim,saying:“O,<br />
you, disobedient slave! Why do you ask Me to call you?” He<br />
answers:“YâRabbî!Iunderst<strong>and</strong>thatIamgoingtoHellbecause<br />
