Choosing some of the people whose deserved destination in the Hereafter is Hell, He will magnanimously forgive them and bless them with Paradise....

Kitâb-ul-ferâid: “It is stated in a hadîth-i-sherîf quoted on <strong>the</strong><br />
authority of Abû Umâma Sadî bin Ajlân-i-Bâhilî ‘radiy-Allâhu<br />
’anh’(d.81[700A.D.],Homs-inSyriaasoftoday):“People who<br />
resemble o<strong>the</strong>rs are not from our community. Do not resemble<br />
Jews or Christians! Jews greet one ano<strong>the</strong>r by making a sign with<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir fingers, Christians do so by making a sign with <strong>the</strong>ir h<strong>and</strong>s,<br />
<strong>and</strong> magians by bowing.”Itisstatedin<strong>the</strong>bookentitledKitâb-ussunnat-i-wa-l-jamâ’at<br />
(<strong>and</strong> written by Rukn-ul-islâm Ibrâhîm) [1] :<br />
Acknowledge o<strong>the</strong>rs’ greetings! It is a custom of Jews <strong>and</strong><br />
Christians to make signs with fingers or h<strong>and</strong>s in <strong>the</strong> name of<br />
greeting. And it is a custom of magians to kiss your own h<strong>and</strong><br />
whenyouseesomeoneortokisshish<strong>and</strong>ortoputyourh<strong>and</strong>on<br />
your chest or to bow or to prostrate yourself. It is stated in <strong>the</strong><br />
bookentitledFatâwâ-i-Kâri-ul-Hidâya (<strong>and</strong>writtenby’Umarbin<br />
Is-haq)<strong>and</strong>in<strong>the</strong>bookentitledShir’ât-ul-islâm (<strong>and</strong>writtenby<br />
MuhammadbinAbîBakr‘rahmatullâhita’âlâ’alaih’(d.573[1178<br />
A.D.]):“GreetingbymakingasignwithfingersisaJewishcustom.<br />
AnditisaChristiancustomtogreetbymakingasignwithh<strong>and</strong>.<br />
A Muslim should not imitate such greetings.” Mazhar-i-Jân-i-<br />
Jânân‘quddisasirruh’(1111[1699A.D.],India–martyredin1195<br />
[1781])wouldpreventgreetingsmadebyputting<strong>the</strong>h<strong>and</strong>son<strong>the</strong><br />
headorbybowing.<br />
Esh-shaikh ’Alî Mahfûz ‘rahmatullâhi ta’âlâ ’alaih’, who was<br />
oneof<strong>the</strong>greateronesof<strong>the</strong>scholarsof<strong>the</strong>Jâmi’uladhhar<strong>and</strong><br />
whopassedawayin1361[1942A.D.],statesasfollowsin<strong>the</strong>three<br />
hundred <strong>and</strong> sixty-second page of his book entitled al-Ibdâ’:<br />
“GreetingasprescribedbyIslamhasbeenconsignedtooblivion.<br />
This is an extremely sordid general trend. It is quite a mean<br />
behaviour to say, ‘Good morning,’ or to greet one ano<strong>the</strong>r by<br />
making signs with <strong>the</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s or by nodding or not to greet a<br />
Muslimbecauseyoudonotknowhimornottogreetyourfamily<br />
whenyoucomehome.Itmeanstoignoreanactofsunnat.”<strong>The</strong><br />
