What’s the most important thing affecting employability <strong>and</strong> success <strong>on</strong> the job? This<br />
thought-provoking presentati<strong>on</strong> will use real-life stories to focus <strong>on</strong> helping clients<br />
<strong>and</strong> students underst<strong>and</strong> the significance <strong>and</strong> benefits <strong>of</strong> teamwork <strong>and</strong> c<strong>on</strong>necting<br />
with others. Delivered in Kirk’s humorous, motivati<strong>on</strong>al style, this sessi<strong>on</strong> will provide<br />
applicable, practical, <strong>and</strong> positive informati<strong>on</strong> you can use. Data from multiple sources<br />

kirk P. Wyers, Jr., is the Director <strong>of</strong> Career <strong>and</strong> Technical Educati<strong>on</strong> at the Newaygo<br />
County Regi<strong>on</strong>al Educati<strong>on</strong> Service Agency in western Michigan, where he also has<br />
served as the Career Tech <str<strong>on</strong>g>Center</str<strong>on</strong>g> Director. Kirk has K-12 experience as a principal, assistant<br />
principal, athletic director, <strong>and</strong> teacher. He has served <strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> co-chaired North<br />
Central Accreditati<strong>on</strong> Teams, <strong>and</strong> chaired United Way <strong>and</strong> March <strong>of</strong> Dimes fundraiser<br />
committees. He is a former Board Member for the Michigan Associati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sec<strong>on</strong>dary<br />
School Principals, <strong>and</strong> was h<strong>on</strong>ored as “Principal <strong>of</strong> the Year” in 1996.Kirk has presented<br />
<strong>on</strong> school-to-work <strong>and</strong> career initiatives at the local, regi<strong>on</strong>al, state, <strong>and</strong> nati<strong>on</strong>al levels.<br />
Currently, he serves <strong>on</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> the Frem<strong>on</strong>t Area Community Foundati<strong>on</strong>, as a local<br />
school board member, <strong>on</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Directors for his local Boys/Girls Club, <strong>and</strong><br />
as President <strong>of</strong> the Michigan West Central Career-Tech Partnership.<br />

West Allis Nathan Hale High School’s Career Academy has been recognized as the<br />
best career program in Wisc<strong>on</strong>sin <strong>and</strong> fourth best in the nati<strong>on</strong>. Learn how to use<br />
career majors as a valuable comp<strong>on</strong>ent <strong>of</strong> a dynamic program that includes interest<br />
inventories, career research, job shadowing, mock interviews, career assemblies,<br />
employability skills, career portfolios, <strong>and</strong> career-related community activities.<br />
