What impact will it have on tomorrow’s jobs? How are industry, careers, and education being reshaped—and what should we be doing differently to prepare our clients and students? Based on the presenter’s extensive background as an economist, this session will explore the significance of the New Economy and its impact on the workforce and jobs of the future. David Ward, Ph.D., established NorthStar Economics in May 2000. His work on “Wisconsin and the New Economy” has been widely recognized. Ward has extensive experience in strategic planning and has authored strategic economic development plans for clients in Wisconsin, Wyoming, and New Hampshire. His studies include: A Systematic Evaluation Process for a Science and Technology Strategy in New Hampshire; A Strategic Economic Development Plan for The Town of Saratoga, Wyoming; An Economic Agenda and Operating Plan for the International Trade, Business, and Economic Development Council of Southwest Wisconsin; and An Economic Development Adjustment Plan for Door County, Wisconsin. Ward is an active investor and belongs to the Origin Investment Group of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He is the co-author of the 2003 and 2005 NorthStar Guide to Growth and Venture Capital. Ward earned a BBA, MBA and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ward completed a 31-year career in the University of Wisconsin System in July of 2000. He held teaching positions at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Oshkosh.
