The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD) Educati<strong>on</strong>al Development<br />

Plan Team was formed in resp<strong>on</strong>se to an area-wide study c<strong>on</strong>ducted by W.E. Upjohn<br />

Institute for Employment Research that evaluated the use <strong>and</strong> effectiveness <strong>of</strong> formal<br />

career planning. The team designed a plan, c<strong>on</strong>tracted with a s<strong>of</strong>tware developer, <strong>and</strong><br />

implemented the OAISD Career Planning System. That was the easy part. This sessi<strong>on</strong><br />

will address the difficulties that came with implementati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> integrati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />

system into 12 area high schools—each <strong>of</strong> differing sizes, varying number <strong>of</strong> counselors,<br />

<strong>and</strong> different career guidance philosophies.<br />
