Why <strong>Skill</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong>?<br />

<strong>Skill</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> recognizes that for Africa, as a continent to achieve a<br />

reduction in poverty, more people need to advanced themselves through<br />

proactive learning. And having access to both a theory guided projects;<br />

problem-based learning environments and soft skills training to develop<br />

skills that will lead to work readiness not only for the present work<br />

needs, but for the future. This includes underprivileged groups, which are<br />

traditionally under-represented in skills training which is why our<br />

establishments are in townships and rural areas.<br />

<strong>Skill</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Makerspace</strong>’s are next-generation workshops equipped<br />

with technology infrastructure designed to accelerate professional<br />

development, performance & creativity for high school and university<br />

graduates. It provides workplace practices aligned to theoretical<br />

knowledge (Work Integrated Learning); financial and emotional<br />

independence; a safe and collaborative environment to express ideas;<br />

tangible support for growth; and an alignment of activities with people on<br />

the same path to compliment skill-set. Learners participate in workintegrated<br />

cross-disciplinary projects arranged to develop real world<br />

solutions to socio-economic issues through project-based learning.<br />
