Die Produktion einer unserer Magazin-Ausgaben
ist stets eine schöne Aufgabe für das
gesamte Team. Diesmal war diese von viel
Traurigkeit und Trauer überschattet, denn wir mussten
vom plötzlichen Ableben unseres Autors Rainer
Himmelfreundpointner nach kurzer, schwerer
Krankheit erfahren. Er war nicht nur einer der besten
Wirtschaftsjournalisten des Landes, sondern vor allem
unser umfassend gebildeter, die Dinge auf den
Punkt bringender und lieber Team-Kollege. Wir verabschieden
uns von ihm ab Seite 4.
Aserbaidschan, dem diesmal unsere Cover-Story
ab Seite 30 gewidmet ist, feiert heuer seinen 100. Jahrestag
der Volksrepublik. Wir sind stolz darauf, beim
feierlichen Empfang mit dabei zu sein und im Palais
Liechtenstein mit dieser Ausgabe dort aufzuliegen.
Auch Astana hat ein Jubiläum zu feiern. Die
Hauptstadt von Kasachstan wird heuer jugendliche
20 Jahre alt, zu lesen ab Seite 50.
Südafrika, das heuer den Vorsitz der BRICS Gruppe
führt, ist nicht nur touristisch gesehen ein faszinierendes
Land, ab Seite 44. Zudem luden wir Wiens
Botschafter bei einem unserer zahlreichen Eigenevents
zu einer beeindruckenden Vorstellung von
„Afrika! Afrika!“ ein, bei der auch der südafrikanische
Botschafter, S.E. Tebogo Seokolo (im Interview
ab S. 48) anwesend war.
Neben unserem online News-Channel, den wir
seit Oktober aktuell betreiben, stellen wir nun gleich
nach den Akkreditierungen die neuen bilateralen
Botschafter in Wien auf unserer Homepage vor.
Neu in unserem Magazin ist auch das redaktionelle
Format, in dem wir in Zukunft Honorarkonsule
vor den Vorhang bitten und persönlich vorstellen
wollen. Den Anfang macht Heinrich Schaller - der
Chef der Raiffeisen Landesbank Oberösterreich ist
Honorarkonsul der Tschechischen Republik in Oberösterreich,
ab S. 84.
Und für den Fall, dass Sie den Sommer über Zeit
finden, die Stadt Wien noch besser zu erkunden, sei
Ihnen die Geschichte über jüdische Kultur in Österreich
(ab Seite 92) ans Herz gelegt.
Wir wünschen Ihnen einen schönen Sommer in
spannenden Zeiten, wenn mit diesem Juli Österreich
die EU-Ratspräsidentschaft übernimmt.
The production of our magazine issues is always
an exciting task for the whole team. This
time, however, the process was overcast by
tremendous sadness and sorrow, for we had to learn
of the sudden passing of our author Rainer Himmelfreundpointner,
following a brief and severe illness.
He was not only one of the best business journalists
in the country, but a widely educated, precise and beloved
team colleague in particular. We bid farewell to
him from page 4.
Azerbaijan, to which this issue’s cover story (from
page 30) is dedicated this time around, is celebrating
the 100 th birthday of its democratic republic this year.
We are proud to attend the festivities and will be present
at the Palais Liechtenstein with this issue of our
magazine.
Astana also has a reason to celebrate. The capital
city of Kazakhstan is turning 20 years young this year,
find out more starting on page 50.
South Africa, which is presiding over the BRICS
group this year, is not just a fascinating country if you
are a tourist – read more on page 44. We also invited
Vienna’s Ambassadors to a brilliant performance of
“Afrika! Afrika!“ at one of our many events, at which
the South African Ambassador H.E. Tebogo Seokolo
(interview starting on p. 48) was present as well.
Next to our online news channel that we have
been running since October, we also introduce the
new bilateral Ambassadors to Vienna on our website
once accreditation is complete.
Another addition is our new editorial format,
where we will be asking honorary consuls onto the
stage for a personal introduction. The first is Heinrich
Schaller – the Head of Raiffeisen Landesbank
Oberösterreich is an Honorary Consul of the Czech
Republic to Upper Austria, read more from page 84.
And just in case you find the extra time to explore
Vienna in a little more depth during the summer, we
highly recommend the story about Jewish culture in
Austria (starting on page 92).
We wish you a wonderful summer during these
exciting times, especially when Austria assumes the
EU Council Presidency this July.
